Erin Schaefer

Grant Writer

Erin’s path to grant writing is not a straight line. She holds a master’s in Tropical Disease Biology from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and a bachelor’s in Biological Anthropology from the University of Oregon, and it was somewhere between the lab bench and nonprofit work in Africa that she found passion in making a compelling case for work that matters. She’s been writing grants since 2022 and loves how many unexpected directions it’s taken her.

Her focus now is on Oregon-based organizations serving people on the margins, communities that could use a stronger voice. She lives here, her neighbors are here, and supporting that work feels less like a job and more like showing up for the people and places she cares about.

Erin was born and raised in Southern Oregon and has lived all over the West Coast, from the desert in Southern California to Seattle, Washington. Give her a wifi connection, and she’ll work from anywhere: the trunk of her car in a national park, a train through Italy, or somewhere over the Atlantic, while her husband, Clint, enjoys the trip like a normal person. At home, her priorities are simple: good food, lifelong friends, and quality time with their three cats, Bobby, Dorian, and Oslo.
