The Role

Grant Consultant

$50/hour | 20–30 hours/week with growth opportunities

We are looking for an experienced grant writer who is ready to take ownership of a portfolio of clients and lead grant management from start to finish.

This role is perfect for someone who is a strategic thinker, a strong writer, and a natural relationship-builder. This role will support multiple nonprofits with their funding strategy, help manage clients’ grant revenue stream, and deliver proven results.

This is a role for someone who can balance independence with teamwork, enjoys variety and fast-paced work, and is motivated by helping nonprofits grow and thrive.

What You’ll Do

Lead Client Partnerships (20%)

Serve as the main point of contact for multiple nonprofit clients
Build strong, trust-based relationships and deeply understand each organization’s mission, programs, and funding goals
Provide strategic guidance, not just execution, on how to grow and sustain grant funding.
Meet with clients every month and communicate proactively, keeping clients informed, prepared, and confident

Drive Grant Strategy & Prospecting (20%)

Develop and manage clients’ funding strategies & grant calendars
Identify and vet high-quality funding opportunities aligned with client priorities
Stay ahead of trends in the funding landscape and proactively bring new ideas to the table
Position clients competitively by aligning opportunities with long-term goals

Write & Submit High-Quality Proposals (35%)

Lead the development of compelling grant proposals, LOIs, and narratives
Translate complex programs and budgets into clear, persuasive stories
Ensure all submissions are tailored, compliant, and delivered on time
Manage multiple deadlines across clients with precision and accountability
Submit applications, reports and deliverables related to grant awards

Engage Funders & Support Stewardship (15%)

Support and guide funder outreach and relationship-building efforts
Track submissions, outcomes, and reporting requirements
Help clients maintain strong funder relationships and position for renewal funding

Collaborate & Contribute to Team Excellence (10%)

Work closely with the JLL team to share insights, problem-solve, and strengthen strategy
Maintain organized systems and documentation across client work
Contribute to a culture that values excellence, collaboration, and creativity

What You Bring

2+ years of grant writing and/or grant management experience
Proven ability to manage multiple clients or projects simultaneously
Strong, adaptable writing skills with a clear and compelling voice
Confidence engaging with clients, funders, and internal teams
High level of organization and attention to detail
A proactive, self-starter mindset. You take initiative and follow through
Passion for supporting nonprofits and advancing mission-driven work
Must have: strong familiarity with the Pacific Northwest/Oregon funding landscape
Nice to have: experience with securing funding for higher education and independent schools

Work Environment & Expectations

Fully remote, flexible work environment and schedule
20–30 hours per week with opportunity for growth
Must be comfortable working independently while staying highly responsive and collaborative
Regular client communication and occasional in-person interaction expected
